What is the CROP Walk?

The CROP Walk is a fun community event and three-mile walk that raises awareness and raises funds to help fight hunger locally and globally. Walkers invite family, friends and co-workers to sponsor them with a contribution of $5, $10, $20 or more. Our 2019 goal is to raise over $20,000. In the past 33 years, the Cleveland County CROP Walk has raised more than $360,000.

Who Walks & Why?

People who want to make a difference in the lives of hungry people. Over 1 billion people in our world know hunger every day. In our own community, more and more families have a hard time putting enough food on the table. Walkers come from faith communities, businesses, civic & professional organizations, OU, youth groups, families, friends and dog walkers. More than 400 people joined in last year’s walk, raising over $22,000.

Who Benefits from the CROP Walk?

The hungry and those in need, in Cleveland County and around the world. Twenty-five percent of local CROP Walk proceeds benefit Food & Shelter Inc., which has provided emergency housing to homeless families and free meals to the hungry for over 20 years. The remaining proceeds support international hunger-fighting and relief efforts of Church World Service. Our local walk is organized by a grassroots, volunteer committee made up of people from many faith communities and organizations.
